| INDEX Description Operation Connections Features Vox enable Switch hook Beep tone Radio interface Specifications |
The M1050 module incorporates a headset recorder interface, handset recorder interface, and a headset adapter (500A or 502C) into one module. The M1050 digital unit connects to the modular "AUX" jack of a digital set; the M1050 hybrid unit connects to a hybrid voice terminal. When used with digital sets an adjunct -48vdc power supply is required.
Two push button switches are located on top of the M1050. An LED in each button indicates if the switch is on. Pressing the "OFF HOOK" switch answers the call on the voice terminal. (Similar to lifting the handset.) Pressing the switch again turns off the adapter and disconnects the transmit and receive to the adapter, equivalent of going on-hook. The second switch is the "MUTE" switch. This switch mutes the 4 wire transmitter and handset transmit for privacy during a call.
The M1050 is equipped with modular jacks for most connections. The following jacks are provided:

The M1050 has three option settings:
Use the vox enable option in the absence of a switch-hook logic connection. The switch-hook option should be "OFF" if the vox enable is "ON". When the vox enable is "ON", the recorder audio output of the M1050 is controlled by a solid-state relay that only passes audio to the AUDIO TO RECORDER jacks during the presence of audio. It has a holdover of 5 seconds.
This option determines the logic level detection of the voice terminal's switch hook logic. "OFF" sets the logic for "+", "ON" sets the logic for "-". If no connection is made to the switch-hook input a "+" setting leaves the recorder audio always on, a "-" setting leaves the recorder audio off.
The beep tone produces a 200ms 1khz tone burst every 15 seconds. The tone is audible to both parties. Beep tone generation is dependent on the vox and switch hook logic settings.
The 4 wire broadcast audio provides an interface between the operators Centracom II radio system and their telephone console through a single headset. The module is used with Motorola's Telephone/headset interface board. This allows the dispatcher to interface with radio traffic on a normal basis until a call on the telephone console is active.
With Motorola's Telephone/headset interface board connected and Motorola's headset jack plugged in, the selected audio from the console speaker is routed to the headset earphone. When the M1050 "OFF HOOK" button is pressed, an off-hook condition is established on the telephone console. The telephone receive audio is then routed to the earphone, while the radio select audio is routed back to the console speakers.
