Two dip switches on the M8001 control the audible beep tone and the output level used for recording. The switch is located to the right of the handset jack on the M8001, as shown in figure 1.
Switch #1 (left side) sets the record signal level. The telephone level is approximately 10dB higher (stronger) then the mic level.
Switch #2 (right side) sets the beep tone on or off.
The M8001 is made for desktop or wall mount use. 2 screws are required for wall mounting. The screws are positioned 4.13 inches apart and fit in 2 keyholes on the bottom of the M8001. (See figure 3.)

Set the mode switch located on top of the M8001 to "RECORD". Place or receive a call on your voice terminal. The conversation will be recorded. If you have set the beep tone option on, a short tone will be heard every 15 seconds.
Set the mode switch located on top of the M8001 to "PLAYBACK". Set your recording device to playback. The recorded media is audible to both parties.
The beep tone is muted during playback, however, if the tone was used during recording, the recorded beep will play back.
The microphone (in the handset) is muted when the mode switch is in the "PLAYBACK" position. You must switch the M8001 to "RECORD" during normal conversations, even if you are not recording.
The distant end mic is never muted.
