The headset feature button on the set activates the 4-wire radio interface. When the headset led is illuminated, the MI1024 activates audio transmission on the radio jack.
Shorting pair 3 (pins 3 and 6) of the radio jack also activates the 4-wire radio interface and places the set off-hook.
The radio interface provides a short as an off-hook indication on pair four. Record audio and beep tone are also active.
When the handset or speakerphone is in use, the MI1024 provides beep tone and record audio only.
The beep tone generator produces a 200ms 1400hz tone every 15 seconds. The tone is audible to both parties. It can be turned on or off with the beep tone switch, located beside the radio jack on the back of the set.
Move the switch to the right to turn the tone off. Moving the switch to the left enables the beep tone.
The headset jack should not be used when a 2420 set is equipped with a MI1024 module.
During speakerphone use, the radio jack interface becomes unusable. Record audio and optional beep tone are still provided for the speakerphone.
The MI1024 operates from 5vdc within the set.
The radio jack is an 8-pin, 8-position modular jack (RJ-48) located on the back edge of the set. Some sets may have a short pigtail and plug. The pinout is the same.
